Home goes ethno-pop — and the world in Saarland format.
What might it sound like to be a global citizen, Saarland style?

Musical answers emerge from the ethno-acoustic sound laboratory of Talking Earth Trust.

Udo Redlich & Talking Earth Trust

…the intercultural music project. We are on an audiophonic journey of discovery across cultures and musical styles. With its songs, our album Talking Earth Trust: Spirit of Colours (2015) is far removed from sentimental homeland clichés and musical uniformity. Instead, it presents pop music by locally rooted artists with a global outlook, alongside musical folklore by international artists connected to the region, whose cross-genre character creates a distinctive and special charm.

Differentiated yet highly accessible, ranging from popularly framed world music to chamber-music intimacy, a distinctive style emerges that speaks equally to the audience’s heart, mind, and gut. Experimental mainstream and niche music with ear-catching quality are shaped into entirely new soundscapes.

The ambitious project by Saarbrücken guitarist Udo Redlich, with its juxtaposition of introspection and outward observation, was presented in various media reports, including:

Saarländischer Rundfunk regional television “Wir im Saarland” on May 23, 2014, and “Kulturspiegel” on July 8, 2015; the Saarbrücker Zeitung during the Fête de la Musique on June 21, 2014 in Saarbrücken, as well as an album review on September 17, 2015; radio features on SR 1 “Abendrot” (March 30, 2015), SR 2 “Abendmusik” (June 7, 2015), SR 3 “Bei uns dehemm” (June 12, 2015), and in various scene and culture magazines.

The album was released in Saarbrücken in 2015 with a special launch event. Live performances, music videos, and short talks on themes such as home, language, identity, cultural encounter, and the meaning and value of music provided a rich and varied program.
